Beauty and Make Up Tips -Soft Cheeks and Lovely Eyelashes
Purge all thoughts of Liza Minnelli’s streaky war paint from the ’70s—defining your cheekbones doesn’t have to be dramatic. For the natural-looking, subtle sculpting seen at Dolce & Gabbana, pick a slightly darker version of your favorite peachy-rose blusher. (At Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2009 show, makeup artist Pat McGrath blushed cheeks with Max Factor ColorGenius Mineral Blush in Peaches and Roses and contoured with Nars Blush in Zen.)
Using an angled brush, apply a contouring blush just beneath the cheekbone, starting by your ear and working inward using small, upward strokes. After blending, dust a lighter blush along the cheekbone, above the contour you just created. With a medium brush, apply the color toward your ear using downward strokes so that the blush and contouring blush meet. Blend both hues to finish off the look. Rule of thumb: Sidestep looking sideswiped by covering ground gradually with tiny strokes instead of long, sweeping ones. Remember that less is more—you can always add more color.
False lashes can be a pain to put on—and this alone is a completely legitimate reason for not blinking twice at the thought of them. Luckily lash conditioners exist—and they are a lifesaver! To help grow and thicken your God-given fringe, try RevitaLash conditioner at night and a multitasking mascara-conditioner like Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes! by day. For those still flirting with the idea of falsies, tweezers and patience are key to avoiding a “sticky” situation. Using the metal prongs to hold lashes as you squeeze on glue, wait (repeat, wait!) 20 seconds before pressing onto your lid. (This way the glue acts as an adhesive rather than causing a gooey slipup.) Lash bars offer another alternative: Brands like M.A.C and Sephora provide free professional application with purchase.
